Imagine a hybrid school renting some rooms and a gym at a local church.
The curriculum is an on-line, classical Christian program, with a combination of self-taught,
parent-tutored, and live, distance instruction in the home. Besides the usual subjects,
there are courses in the Great Books, logic, debate, and Latin or Greek.
The local campus administrator helps each student design a tailored course of instruction and testing,
including extra-curricular and sports activities apart from the public schools.
The student spends 1 or 2 days a week at the campus for things not easily taught at home or by internet,
like music, art, drama, or sports. The school is working toward accreditation by a Christian
accrediting agency and will grant a high school diploma. Total costs are about a quarter
that of other Christian schools, including the internet component. |
