ELECTIVE CLASSES

The computer is a wonderful educational tool, but some classes are not as adaptable to the distance format as are others like history or math. For example, courses such as art and music are best taught using a hands-on approach with a tutor standing by to model, correct, and encourage. These courses are sometimes neglected in ordinary schools, but are vital to the classical approach. There may be other courses, unique to the local area that the Home-School campus is specially equipped to deliver. The school administrator will identify these courses by interviewing parents and homeschool support group leaders and contract with local instructors to make them available on-campus. In other cases, the local campus will offer a more complete curriculum which will be supplemented by instruction in the home. Either emphasis is appropriate.

In addition, the local campus provides a school "culture" which supplements the vital parent-child relationship, but is not available in the home. One or two days a week your children will benefit from the fellowship of other like-minded students in a Christian environment. They will be challenged and encouraged by the positive role model of adult instructors in addition to their parents. Parents will be refreshed by the free time and may devote more attention to their younger children. At the same time, they are relieved of the instructional burden for subjects they may not be qualified to teach.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROGRAM

Extra-curricular activities are centralized at the ClassicalFree Home-School Academy campus. This releases parents from the time-consuming task of chauffeuring students all over town for a variety of unrelated and unsynchronized activities. The Home-School campus is typically a suite of rooms rented from an area church that will include a gym and playing fields for sports activities. The centralized facility is also ideal for activities such as drama and debate that are obviously dependent on group participation.

Your children will benefit from the challenge of carefully monitored competition within the context of a Christian world-view. Biblical principles of health and physical fitness are carefully nurtured in the school environment. Students are taught to respect and exercise appropriate stewardship over their body, as the temple of the Holy Spirit.
